A 1930 German film (spoken in English) about an old professor who's life spins out of control when he falls for a nightclub singer. Directed by Josef von Sternberg and starring Emil Jannings, Marlene Dietrich and Kurt Gerron. It is based on Heinrich Mann's 1905 novel Professor Unrat (Professor Garbage). This movie made Dietrich an international star and introduced her signature song, Friedrich Hollaender and Robert Liebmann's "Falling in Love Again (Can't Help It)".
